Technical Electives

There are 9 hours of technical electives in the Electrical Engineering program. Generally, these are 300, 400, or 500 level courses in Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, or one of the other engineering disciplines, such as CE/ME 350 Engineering Economy, which is frequently used. The department requires that at least two of the three technical electives be taken within the department, unless a planned sequence of other courses designed to accomplish a specific purpose is presented. In any case, all technical electives must be approved by your advisor before you take them.

Note that, while all of the required courses in the Electrical Engineering Program are given every semester, most of the technical electives are only given every other semester and some prior planning is essential to insure that you get the course you want when you want it. The list given below shows the courses, arranged by area, within the department that can be used as technical electives. In addition, the semester in which the courses will be offered is also given. In addition to these courses, there are special topics courses given, which change from semester to semester, and many of these can be used as technical electives.
