IDMARS Home > > Partners The Robotics Laboratory of sponsored by the PURSUE Program, a NASA-PAIR Program: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has funded the University of New Mexico (UNM) and its collaborating higher education institutions, i.e. Highland University of New Mexico (NMHU); Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (ATVI); and Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), to build upon their funded research to enhance the quality of the Mathematics, Science, Engineering, and Technology (MSET) undergraduate education. The goal of the PURSUE program is to strengthen the MSET baccalaureate degree-producing capacity of the University of New Mexico and its collaborating higher education institutions by leveraging and building upon previous research funding. The specific missions are to:
v
Increase the
production of U.S. students, especially those underrepresented in MSET
fields, in scientific and technical fields who are competitively trained,
have discipline-related work experience, and who attain advanced degrees in
space- and NASA-related fields;
v
Integrate
cutting-edge science and technology concepts and practices into relevant
areas of the undergraduate curriculum, including introductory-level courses
and laboratories for majors and non-majors; v Increase participation by faculty and students in projects that both foster collaborative inquiry, and that promote broad and significant improvements to undergraduate teaching and learning, especially of the techniques and methodologies associated with the conduct of research;
v
Dissemination of
the "best practices" and transfer of educational products to the UNM
partner schools;
v
Create model
minority university for the development of excellence in MSET academic
infrastructure, undergraduate preparation, and student research training in
space- and NASA-related disciplines; v Create a PAIR Advisory Board that represents people who bring a wealth of working experience and/or wisdom regarding various aspects of the projects activities Click here for PURSUE's Website Click here for more detailed information on the PURSUE Program Partner Schools that work with the Robotics Laboratory include some of PURSUE's partners: Lead University: Partner Schools:
