ECE Grad Boutte's Work on Cover of Journal

The dissertation work of 2009 ECE@UNM doctoral graduate David Boutte is featured on the cover of the June print edition of the journal "IEEE Signal Processing Letters." The corresponding journal article appears in IEEE Signal Processing Letters, Vol. 16, No. 5, pp. 402-405, May 2009.

Boutte's research with his thesis advisor, Prof. Balu Santhanam, featured a unique combination of independent component analysis and support vector machines for automatic modulation recognition. Automatic modulation recognition is an important problem encountered in surveilance and spectrum monitoring applications.

Boutte obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from ECE&UNM in 2001 and 2005.
