ECE Students Help School Welcome VIP Guests
04/18/2006
Nine of ECE's students displayed their research projects at the School of Engineering reception on April 5. The event gave the school an opportunity to thank the individuals who have made the new Centennial Engineering Center possible, and it kicked off a fundraising campaign for the center.
The students' presence helped give the VIP visitors an appreciation for the quality of research being conducted by undergraduates at UNM's School of Engineering.
Both the school and ECE appreciate the time and care each student put into preparing for and attending this event. Thank you to Lynette Bates, Frank Hemingway, Nathan Herrera, Peter Knee, Robert Lopez, Mike Majedi, Ryan Martin, Joshua Simplicio and David Steele.
The projects displayed were:
- David Steele and Peter Knee's "Device for Communication Over an Ethernet Connection," which is sponsored by Sandia National Labs
- Ryan Martin and Rich Potutschnig's "Nanogap Experiments for Laser Cooling," which he conducted at UNM's Center for High Technology Materials
- Frank Hemingway's "Characterizing Light-Emitting Diodes for Ultraviolet Emission Applications: Non-Line-of-Sight Communications and Biological Agent Detection"
- Lynette Bates and Nathan Herrera's "Taekwondo Training and Measurement Device," which they are conducting with their senior-project teammates Felix Sauceda and Matthew Altman
- Robert Lopez, Mike Majedi and Joshua Simplicio's Robotics and Systems Control demonstrations
