The project team has added a Xilinx microprocessor that communicates
with the existing Javelin chip via a hard-wired connection. The team
also made the dual-chip Wireless platform more modular to increase the
robot's functions and scalability.
This new version of Lobot Jr. can now also communicate with a network of
mobile robots via a wireless transceiver. And programmable logic takes
Lobot Jr. to its next generation, allowing increased flexibility and
intelligence for future projects executed on the platform.
Lobot Jr. is used for ECE student projects, research on intelligent
distributed multiagent robotic systems, and K-12 outreach. The project
faculty advisor is Dr. Nader Vadiee. See the IDMARS (Robotics) Lab's Web
site at http://pursue.unm.edu/robotics.
