The EECE department receives a yearly grant of about nine million dollars for research from various agencies, government and private. We have several centers of excellence, which include the Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM), NASA-MRC and NASA-ACE. A total of thirty-four faculty and about 22 research personnel and technicians are involved in the projects. 

Laboratories include:

Research

• The Applied Electromagnetics and Plasma Science Laboratory for state-of-the-art high power microwave source development, characterization, and microwave test instrumentation
• CIRT networks and MAUI supercomputers for R&D and Benchmarking
• Bay network and other donations for the creation of data communications lab.

Teaching

• Wireless Communications Laboratory
• Microwave Engineering Laboratory
