Dr. Nasir Ghani is an Associate Professor in the ECE Department at the University of New Mexico and Director of the UNM Advanced Cyber-Infrastructure Laboratory. He received the Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, the Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from McMaster University, Canada, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Currently he is involved in a wide range of research activities in the high-speed networking area and his work has been supported by the NSF, DOE, DTRA, NSWC, and Sprint-Nextel Corp. In addition, he also received the NSF CAREER Award in 2005 for his work in the area of multi-domain network design. Prior to joining UNM, Dr. Ghani was a faculty member in the ECE Department at Tennessee Tech University. He also has extensive industrial experience totalling over 8 years in a wide range of networking and software-related areas and has held senior positions at large blue chip organizations (Nokia, IBM, Motorola) and several startups (Sorrento Networks, Array Systems Computing). Dr. Ghani is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the current chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on High Speed Networks (TCHSN). He has been a guest editor for IEEE Network and IEEE Communications Magazine and has also been serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Communications Letters journal. Furthermore, he has chaired several symposia for IEEE GLOBECOM and IEEE ICC and also runs a regular high-speed networking workshop series for IEEE INFOCOM. |
