Welcome to my homepage. I am an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico (UNM) with a joint appointment in Computer Science. I am one of the founders of the Advanced Graphics Lab (AGL) which is dedicated to research in computer graphics, visualization, imaging and computer vision. AGL is works alongside the ARTS Lab, an interdisciplinary center here at UNM which focuses on interdisciplinary research on digital media. I recently graduated with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Graphics Lab at Stanford University.

Graduate student opportunities

I am looking for a few more PhD students who are interested in research in computer graphics, computer vision, and image processing. Students should be good at mathematics and programming. Please contact me if you are interested. Applications for our graduate program here at UNM can be found here.

Research interests

In general, my research interests are in the area of rendering and image synthesis. I study novel rendering algorithms to accelerate global illumination, as well as image-based techniques for capturing light transport. I am also interested in real-time rendering and graphics hardware.

Students

I currently work with a great group of graduate students:

There are also some alumni from my group that are now working at some cool places: If you want to work in this area of research, I am in the process of looking for a few more PhD students who are interested in computer graphics, computer vision and image processing. Applications can be found here.
