DOE Recruiters Visit SOE

DOE gifThirteen Lab Recruiters from the Dept of Energy visited the School of Engineering on Monday, March 26 for an all-day of panel sessions, kicked off by the keynote address delivered by Terry Wallace, the director of Los Alamos National Laboratory.

"This was not only a recruiting event for DOE, it was also an opportunity for UNM to showcase all the great things going on in SOE and UNM in general," said Assoc Dean for Research Edl Schamiloglu.

Representatives from more than a dozen DOE national laboratories from around the country visited UNM to recruit and answer questions from students.

This event was open to students in engineering, the sciences, business and other majors. Both U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens were encouraged to attend.

The day began with the keynote address, delivered by Terry Wallace in the Centennial Auditorium. Dr Wallace is director of Los Alamos National Laboratories.

From 9 am to noon, LANL Student Interns shared their experiences at the DOE national labs.

Also, from 10 until 1 pm, DOE scientists and engineers discussed their research and careers in a session called "STEM Subject-Matter Experts."

Participants were able to learn how to successfully apply for jobs and internships at the DOE national laboraties at 11 am and 2 pm.

Finally, a recruiting fair took place in the Stamm Commons room from 10 am to 2 pm.
